If Everyone Left Earth Except Me

If Everyone Left Earth Except Me

“If everyone left earth to live on Mars or some space-station and I were left down here alone, I would still write.  I would write stories and songs even if there was no one to read them or to sing them.  For I would read them and I would sing them. I think it would help me feel less lonely and pissed off that all you bastards left me down here by myself.” ©Excerpt from “The Almost True Tales, Thoughts & Observations of a Life Long Black Sheep Rebel Girl”

Summer Tans & Rebel Girls

Summer Tans & Rebel Girls

When I was 15 years old, I had the idea I would spend a Saturday laying in the sun.  I turned my radio on and set the dial to the Top 40. It was a plug-in radio, so I stuck it on the sill of my open bedroom window which faced our backyard.  Then I ran outside to check the volume. It wasn’t loud enough so I headed back in to turn it up a bit.  I ended up going back and forth a few times until I got the volume just right.  Then I went to find a beach towel.

We had green and blue lawn chairs that turned into lounge chairs.  You had to lay a towel on these kind of chairs because they were covered in thin plastic tubing that wrapped around the aluminum frame and it stuck to your skin and dug designs into your flesh.  So I laid a towel on mine and dragged it to a perfect “laying in the sun location.”   View full post…

Hello, I see you

Hello, I see you

“A simple “hello” as you walk past someone on the street. A “smile” or a “wave.”  These are things we do for each other.  Things we do with strangers to let them know, “I see you.”  To let them know, “I am not dangerous.”  To let them know, “I am not such an asshole that I would walk by you and pretend that you do not exist.”  Such a small effort, so worth the breath it takes.  What a pity not to say it, what a waste of empty space not to fill it with a “wave” and a “grin” and a “hey.” Oh…..by the way, “Hello.”©Excerpt from The Almost True Tales, Thoughts & Observations of a Life Long Black Sheep Rebel Girl”

Gas Stations & Lottery Tickets

Gas Stations & Lottery Tickets

“I see people buying lottery tickets while I’m waiting in line to buy gas. I wonder what it is about their life that makes them want to fantasize about getting away from it. Then I fantasize about what I would like to get away from if I won the lottery.” ©Excerpt from The Almost True Tales, Thoughts & Observations of a Life Long Black Sheep Rebel Girl”
