Hello, I see you

Hello, I see you

“A simple “hello” as you walk past someone on the street. A “smile” or a “wave.”  These are things we do for each other.  Things we do with strangers to let them know, “I see you.”  To let them know, “I am not dangerous.”  To let them know, “I am not such an asshole that I would walk by you and pretend that you do not exist.”  Such a small effort, so worth the breath it takes.  What a pity not to say it, what a waste of empty space not to fill it with a “wave” and a “grin” and a “hey.” Oh…..by the way, “Hello.”©Excerpt from The Almost True Tales, Thoughts & Observations of a Life Long Black Sheep Rebel Girl”

I was just out walking with my 3 year old grandson when an elderly man walked by (well, maybe not much older than I) and he had a whole bunch of interesting pendants around his neck and I commented to him, “What nice necklaces…” and he seemed totally amazed that someone noticed him. Yes, it’s so important to remind other humans that the world is not as dangerous as they probably think it is. Such a good point to bring up.
