I hang out on rooftops instead of smoking cigarettes. Houses tell me things people never do. They do not have the social graces of people because they do not care what people think. But, they are utterly relieved to have a conversation with someone other than the house next door.
A couple of nights ago an English Tudor complained to me about someone leaving mustard on the wall behind a garbage can in the kitchen, for weeks. He said the people inside have noticed it, but they don’t give a shit. When the owner, “Rebecca” saw it she said, “Dammit,” and then dug at it with her long blue painted finger nail for a moment before pulling a Heineken out of the fridge.
“It’s humiliating. How am I supposed to feel, what am I supposed to think,” the Tudor said. I told him that people are busy but he wouldn’t hear it. He said, “No, they don’t care about me, they just want to use me.” View full post…
